Our independent High Street Stone opticians is stocking a hearing aid that uses artificial intelligence to monitor a wearer’s body and brain health.
Peter Bowers Optometrist has been a resident on the High Street for over three decades and we are now stocking the Livio AI, a hearing aid that utilises integrated sensors and artificial intelligence to track physical activity and cognitive health.
The device, from global technology leader Starkey Hearing Technologies, is the world’s first multi-purpose hearing aid.
We offer the hearing aid as part of the Audiology department at their practice, supplied by Amplify Hearing.
Livio AI interfaces with smartphone app Thrive Hearing, which tracks a wearer’s body and brain health, including monitoring heart rate, physical activity and even detecting when a user has fallen.
It also offers the capabilities of a regular hearing aid, reducing noisy environments by 50%, which significantly reduces listening effort and enhances speech clarity, while artificial intelligence optimises the hearing experience.
Alison Woodcock, our Director and Dispensing Optician at the practice, said: "We are thrilled to be one of the first providers to offer our patients this revolutionary technology.
“Our patients rightly demand hearing technology that keeps up with their working life, family and social life and connects with their world around them.
“Technology like this will help them live healthier, happier lives.”
Starkey Hearing Technologies Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Achin Bhowmik, said: "Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the world around us.
“This technology optimises users' hearing experiences and enables them to continuously monitor and improve their overall health."
This cutting-edge technology allows people to take a proactive and personal approach to treating hearing loss, which has been linked to dementia, cognitive decline and social isolation.
